As The Ticker reported in September, Trains and Things has closed. Yes, sometimes I'm not on the ball about mentioning these things, but better late than never. If this upsets you, I'll refund your money for this post. To make up for my lackadaisical posting habits, I have pictures:

Their website is still operating. Eventually it will not, so for historical purposes, here are some shots of that, too:
I'm guessing the owner wasn't a big web guy as the last update to the "What's New" section was in 2012.

I admittedly never went into the store. I liked the idea of a hobby store on Front Street even I didn't partake in the ones Trains and Things focused on.
If you were to look down as you passed the now shuttered hobby store, you would see the name "Hamilton's" set into the ground:

"Hamilton's" was a clothing store. Doing just a smidge of research, Hamilton's & Milliken became Traverse City's go-to department store which formed in in 1889. A Facebook post mentions Hamilton's closing in 1992, so perhaps sometime in their past, the two stores split at some point. Slipshod research, I know. Again, I'll refund your money if you are not satisfied.
