On my usual route on the Leelanau Trail, I noticed the lovely gardening work the volunteers do near the intersection at Grandview Road. Very nicely done. And I also noticed the ugly orange signs that have appeared recently.
If there is a rider who is old enough to read and doesn't understand that you should stop at a stop sign, perhaps the problem is stupid people. The fact that someone with influence into the TART planning thinks we need these signs has a serious lack in faith in the average intelligence of trail visitors. Do they have a point?
Every new sign makes the beautiful trail a bit uglier. Surely there are better uses for the donated funds than this. And no, since we are on the topic of wasted money, we don't need a roundabout on the trail either.
