Mayfair Burger Bar in Elberta

I do like a good burger. If you don't, this post is not for you.

I don't get to Elberta much. Sure, it's just across Betsie Lake from Frankfort, but Elberta is an easy place to not go to, being so small. But while scoping out things to do on an afternoon off work, and knowing it would be about lunchtime when I arrived, the Mayfair Burger Bar looked like my kind of place.

This is not the Mayfair Bar I frequented when I lived in Haslett. No, the Mayfair Burger Bar is a touch more upscale, but still with a local's feel. What drew me to the MBB was the burger menu. All kinds of wonderful burgers awaited me, and I decided on the Macaroni Penguin. To clear up any confusion, this burger had neither macaroni nor penguin. It has cheese curds, but that does not help solve the mystery of why the burger was called that. However, just because the burger had no ingredient matching its description, I did not sue like the... person that sued Buffalo Wild Wings because their boneless wings didn't contain wing meat. Stupid is as stupid does.

Despite the unfortunate lack of birds native to Antartica, it was a solid burger. That crispy fried cheese, plus more cheese, and other stuff that wasn't cheese but should have been, made for an excellent burger. One has the option of going for a single patty or a double, and I did the single. It was a good choice for me, but you do you. Along with the fries, a single was just the right amount of food for me.

If I could offer a suggestion to the MBB, add an olive burger. This is a staple burger in Michigan and my usual go-to when on the menu. I have no idea why the olive burger is a Michigan thing, but I'm happy it is.

Olives or not, Mayfair Burger Bar makes an excellent burger with a nice atmosphere and plenty of beers to choose from. It's my kind of place.
