On Friday, September 12th, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Freshwater Research & Innovation Center Groundbreaking. As I mentioned in my previous post about the site of the former Grand Traverse Children's Museum, it is being replaced by a $28.9 million building focused on researching blue technology (i.e. technologies for clean water). I just happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped by see the thing.

The construction equipment looms in front of the former site of the children's museum.

And the reps from various organizations ceremonially dig into the dirt. As of October 2nd, there had been some site clearage, but not building have been removed.
