Grand Canyon Lodge

Far from Traverse City, the Grand Canyon Lodge overlooked the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We stayed at a cabin on the North Rim in June 2022 and it was a great trip with some of the best scenery you could imagine. Sadly, that area has been heavily damaged by fires and the lodge has been destroyed by fires in Arizona.

The lodge is where we celebrated Andrea's birthday, with great views of the canyon from the lodge's enormous window. I hear people hike all the way to the canyon floor and back. That sounds unpleasantly difficult, but there are all kinds of people, so good for them.

We didn't stay in the lodge, but in one of the cabins. It was a great little spot. The beds weren't large or comfortable, and we had a mouse in our room (it didn't eat much), but being that close to the canyon was amazing.

A final look at the lodge from one of the trails that wrapped around it. Hard to imagine this 90-year-old building is now gone.
