You were probably wondering what we people up north do on Labor Day. Having lived here about a month, I am now an experienced Northern with complete knowledge of everything everyone does up here. Or something like that.

As for us, we went south, back home to Lansing. Or, in this case, to Grand Ledge. Not only did we visit with family, but I returned a library book that I’ve had since March, when the Capital Area District Library first closed. (It was a big book, luckily, and I love big books, I cannot lie.) I ran through on the RiverTrail and through beautiful downtown Lansing. (It’s been a few months since the protests – time to replace those particle board covers with glass.) And we enjoyed time with Holt friends.

And, I explored Fitzgerald Park, and some of the very interesting rock formations, The Ledges. It’s odd how Lansing is such a flat and relatively uninteresting geologic area, but just a few miles west you have these interesting formations, ones you can climb on and not get yelled at. The Ledges trail runs along the Grand River, and that is where the main ledges are, but the nature area on the other side of Fitzgerald Park also has spots to explore the formations, too.

And they have turtles cruising around the Grand River looking for human flesh. Luckily for me, I was on a bridge and was able to safely capture this one on film. Or bytes.
