What I Did Today

I first created my 'What I Did Today' page because I was bored and had nothing better to do. It became my most popular page, probably because it was the only page that changed with any kind of regularity. But here it is again. Created on May 18th, 1998. Notice the nice, friendly blue and purple theme of this page.

December 31st, 1998 -

• Went to EDS early in the morning. Met the 'posse' - Monkeida, Vernon, Opu, Micki, Jonathon, and Heather. We headed to Windsor
• Boarded the train in Windsor and went to Toronto
• To clarify this point --- TORONTO IS COLD
• Went to Whiskey Saigon for New Year's Eve. It was crowded, but had a good time. Until the crazy trip back the hotel. We did not have our coats, and it was like -20C, and we had to walk. Until we found a very nice man who gave us a lift and saved our life

December 30th, 1998 -

• Got sent home early again
• Did laundry. Yes, I really did

December 29th, 1998 -

• Ate at Wendy's for lunch
• Played Unreal (first time in months)
• Ate at Chi-Chi's for dinner
• Watched two hours of Buffy episodes

December 28th, 1998 -

• Worked out on lunch
• Got sent home early because it was pretty slow

December 27th, 1998 -

• Got my Phantom of the Opera picture put up, above my fireplace. Looks really nice
• Watched The X-Files and ate nachos

December 26th, 1998 -

• Went to my dad's and watched Doctor Doolittle. It was pretty funny
• Played Taboo and Pictionary

December 25th, 1998 -

• Went to my mom's house for Christmas there. Got lots of good stuff, including a new computer chair
• Watched The Empire Strikes Back on the Sci-Fi channel

December 24th, 1998 -

• Watched a Battlestar Galatica marathon on the Sci-Fi channel
• Wrapped Christmas presents
• Had dinner with the family
• Spent the evening at my grandparents house exchanging presents and eating the traditional sloppy joe later night dinner. Well, it's traditional for my family. I got some Buffy stuff and some Frank Sinatra CD's and a vacuum, among others

December 23rd, 1998 -

• Had a breakfast burrito from El Sombrero
• Played Star Wars Monopoly. I won

December 22nd, 1998 -

• Started driving the Grand Prix because the roads are bad
• Went to the Lansing mall and bought Christmas presents
• Went to Greg's and exchanged Christmas presents. I got an M&M dispenser and a Buffy t-shirt

December 21st, 1998 -

• Talked about plans for spending New Years Eve in Toronto
• Showed off my car

December 20th, 1998 -

• Practiced driving on the MSU campus, which is dead since the students are gone
• Had a Christmas with my mom's side of the family. Lots of food and presents were had by all
• Watched The X-Files. No nachos this time

December 19th, 1998 -

• Ate at the Flap Jack Shack for breakfast
• Picked up my brand new BMW 323is from the dealership in Traverse City
• Watched college football when I got home
• Went to my parents house to have Christmas with my step sisters

December 18th, 1998 -

• Ate at Mongolian's again. I'm liking this deal
• Went to Ponderosa with my parents on the way up to Traverse City
• Ate at McDonald's

December 17th, 1998 -

• Had Mongolian for lunch. Two bowls, of course
• Bought some more presents

December 16th, 1998 -

• Bought some Christmas presents on lunch
• Had lunch at Fazzoli's
• Ate at The Dispatch. Pretty good reuben

December 15th, 1998 -

• Ate tacos for lunch. Home made
• Finished reading Oliver Twist
• Watched Buffy

• Went to the mall and ate at Ruby Tuesday's
• Found out my new car came in today, but I cannot get it until Saturday
• Watched Monday Night Football at Damon's with Greg, Joel, and Kristie. The 49ers killed the Lions, as it should be

December 13th, 1998 -

• Read outside in the sun. It's crazy, sitting outside in December, but it was warm
• Ate dinner at Bennigan's
• Watched The X-Files (the haunted house episode, with Lili Tomlin and Ed Asner) and ate nachos

December 12th, 1998 -

• Got acosted by some person asking me for money in Barnes & Nobles. Nope, he did not get any. While I was there, I bought The Crown of Swords
• Watched college football

• Ate tacos for lunch. Made them myself, I did
• Saw Star Trek: Insurrection. A decent movie

November 30th, 1998 -

• Found out I got the web developer job. Not bad for a Monday
• Watched Monday Night Football (49ers beat the NY Giants)

November 29th, 1998 -

• Watched lots of football
• Ate nachos and watched The X-Files (good episode)

November 28th, 1998 -

• Watched more college football, including MSU getting crushed by Penn State
• Laid on in the sun. Pretty strange - it's almost December and I am getting a tan
• Joel and I went to Buddies. Nachos, of course

November 27th, 1998 -

• Watched college football
• Made chicken nachos for lunch. They did not turn out as well as the ground beef nachos, but they were okay
• Bought a casino game for my computer

November 26th, 1998 -

• Just sat around and watched television
• Went to my uncle's house and had a big Thanksgiving dinner. I only had three plates worth of food, though. After that, played cards. It's some kind of tradition

November 25th, 1998 -

• Bought this cool Buffy graphic novel. Ok, it's a big comic book
• Got in a car accident. I was the passenger, and it wasn't our fault. Some guy pulled in front of us, then ran away
• Ate a Long John Silver's
• Saw The Siege (decent movie)
• Went to the Point After for some nachos with a special guest star

November 24th, 1998 -

• Ate an omlet for breakfast. Yep, I made it
• Payed off my loan
• Went to Reno's for lunch
• Went to Opu's and hung out for a while

November 23rd, 1998 -

• On vacation this week. Woohoo!
• Ordered my new car, which will be her in about 2-3 weeks
• Watched Monday Night Football

November 22nd, 1998 -

• Watched several Buffy episodes
• Watched The X-Files and ate nachos

November 21st, 1998 -

• Picked up my pictures for Las Vegas
• Watched Cupid and Saturday Night Live with Jennifer Love Hewitt

November 20th, 1998 -

• Back to the routine. Went to McDonald's for breakfast
• Ate lunch ate Famous Taco with Anna
• Went to Harper's (the dance club beneath, actually) and actually did a little dancing, even thought I was not completely wasted. That was a first

November 19th, 1998 -

• Flew home pretty early (11am flight). The on-flight movie was Air Bud II. Needless to say, I got a lot of reading done. O'Hare Airport is pretty cool, and not that confusing.
• Got home and my parents took me out to dinner at Applebee's. The first thing I noticed about Lansing upon returning is it is much darker than Vegas

November 18th, 1998 -

• More Comdex. Yeah, still seeing new stuff, although I did lose my badge, so that cut my day short
• More sightseeing that night. Went through some of the casinos. The Luxor was really cool

November 17th, 1998 -

• More Comdex. Did I mention it is big
• Seagate reserved a microbrewery (Gordon Biersch) and all the beer and pizza you could eat and drink.
• Did some touristy stuff. Went to Fremont Street (the original Las Vegas strip) and saw the light show on the ceiling. Also went up in the tower and observed the skyline at night

November 16th, 1998 -

• Went to Comdex. Very big, lots of neat stuff
• Microsoft rented out a ballroom at the Bellagio hotel. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was there and all the food and drink you could consume. Very cool. Even got a t-shirt

November 15th, 1998 -

• Watched football
• Flew to Las Vegas. I did not get to the hotel until 1:30am (their time), and needless to say, I was tired

November 14th, 1998 -

• Went into work (it was a Saturday) and did some SQL stuff
• Watched college football

November 13th, 1998 -

• Ate at the Chinese Buffet with Pete
• Watched Brimstone

November 12th, 1998 -

• Pete hooked up my new VCR to my stereo system.
• Had pizza for dinner
• Went out with Greg and Joel and drank and smoked cigars at Martini's

• Went to the quarterly meeting in Troy. The pizza and ice cream were good
• Went to Wendy's for dinner (a lot of these updates tend to revolve around food)
• My apartment did not have heat. Thank goodness for electric blankets

• Watched Buffy. It was about nightmares coming true. I just wish Buffy's nightmare was that she was not wearing any clothes...

• Went grocery shopping
• Stopped over at Pete's house for his daughters birthday party
• Watched all kinds of science fiction stuff - Space, Earth 2, and The X-Files

July 18th, 1998 -

• Went to the golf scramble. Greg, Pete, Autumn, and I were on the team. I won a cooler
• Watched Xena - it was some dumb musical version, and Xena was fully clothed. Not good

July 17th, 1998 -

• Ann bought a Teletubby for me to give to Pete's daughter. Yes, I paid for the Teletubby
• Went to Buddies. Love them nachos

July 16th, 1998 -

• Really, not much happened. Hard to believe

July 15th, 1998 -

• Played softball. We got crushed, but had a good time anyway
• Had a softball team get together after the game

July 14th, 1998 -

• Ate breakfast at The Market Garden. Had this awesome chocolate pastry.
• Escaped Toronto successfully. Sat in traffic for 45 minutes halfway through Canada due to some construction.
• Ate at Burger King for lunch.
• Watched Buffy, and there were ghosts.

July 13th, 1998 -

• Ate breakfast at The Market Garden, which is a resteraunt in the hotel.
• Went to Casa Loma, which is a castle overlooking Toronto. Very cool.
• Went to the CN Tower. Many pictures were taken.
• Ate lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe in Skydome.
• Massive amounts of shopping. I spent virtually all of my Canadian money.

July 12th, 1998 -

• Watched The Phantom of the Opera. What a great show! The theatre was cool too. I have pictures, which I will post sooner or later.
• Did a little shopping.
• Worked out.

July 11th, 1998 -

• Well, it was an early start to the day. I got to my mom's house and we headed to Canada. There was she bitchiest border guard there, who asked me what I did, who I worked for, and when I said EDS, she wanted to know if I was going to do any work for GM. As if! However, she was cute.
• Anywho, we got to Toronto. We stayed at the Delta Chelsea hotel. Immediately upon arriving, we walked around the city. I wanted to go to dinner at Ginsberg & Wong, and after searching for it for a 1/2 hour, we found that it was closed (as in boarded up). So much for that.
• Ended up eating at the Hard Rock Cafe on Yonge street. That was decent.
• Worked out later that night. The hotel had a pretty well stocked exercise room.

July 10th, 1998 -

• Got my new computer today! Well, most of it. Unfortunately, I will not be able to put it together for a few days because I am going to be in Toronto until Tuesday. So, I will not be undating my page for a few days. Hang tight - full details when I get back.

• Gave Greg a ride to pick up his new Jeep
• Played softball, and we won!!! Our first victory! We must continue are one game winning streak.
• Ate at Buddies with Joel and Greg.

• Okay, so it was a slow day. Not every day in my life is the exciting thrill ride you think it is

July 6th, 1998 -

• My computer is all messed up. Spent most of the time in the server room where I could get some work done.
• Watched Buffy (I want to be a vampire slayer), Sliders(I want to be an interdimensional traveler), and Road Rules (I want to be a fire fighter).

July 5th, 1998 -

• Watched Wimbledon - Pete Sampras won his fifth title. Then ate chicken stir fry and watched The X-Files.

July 4th, 1998 -

• Went into work and did some reading on my new computer. I got it all priced out - a Pentium II 233

July 3rd -

• Played a little golf. I did terribly.
• Watched Armageddon. It was decent.
• Bought Doom and Wolfenstein 3D. You know, the classics are still the best.

• It's all a blur now

July 1st -

• Played softball. We lost, but it was the best lost ever. Deb and I are the pitcher-catcher combination of the decade.
• Met Greg and Joel at Buddies for some nachos. There was a ruckus over muffins that luckily did not end in bloodshed.

• Ate at the Chinese Buffet. What a top not resteraunt. The Tao was especially deadly today.
• Watched Buffy (a deadly kissing mummy, who happened to be a cute South American girl) and The Real World - Seattle.

• Went to the Mongolian Barbeque for lunch.
• Watched Road Rules.

• Watched more tennis and Outland (Sean Connery).
• Went to the mall and bought some new clothes.

• Watched Wimbledon and sat around all day. It was great.

• Bowled. The last game, the last week, the last hurah. We had pizza after that, and it sucked.

• Practiced tennis serving and worked out.

• Watched Buffy and The Real World.

• Practiced my tennis serving at lunch.
• Watched the premiere of Road Rules in Australia. I am looking closely for Greg, who was in Australia during the taping.

• Went to Cedar Point. There were a lot of teenage kids there. Now I know what a Hanson concert is like, something I do not want to experience again. On the way back, stopped at Wendy's.

June 11th -

• For lunch, Greg, Pete and I played basketball. Pete could not get around me so he stepped on foot, causing me to fall very hard. Then a bunch of kids showed up and were trying to hurt us. Luckily, we were much bigger than them, although one did dunk on Greg.

June 10th -

• Played softball. I found out an important equation:

June 9th -

• Had steak for dinner.
• Watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The show has everything - vampires, Sarah Michelle Geller, fighting, Sarah Michelle Geller, teenage agnst, Sarah Michelle Geller

June 8th -

• Picked my car up from the shop. Amazingly, it was free.
• Ate at Buddies with Greg and Joel. We talked about esoterical questions of the mind and soul. And chicks, a topic of which I know nothing about.

June 7th -

• Played some tennis vs Greg. He reminds of Michael Chang. No, not the heighth - he gets the ball back in the court.
• I watched the Jazz-Bulls game. Bulls kicked major butt, destroying them 96-54.

June 6th -

• Took my car into have the brakes looked at. They were makinga a terrible grinding noise when I would brake while going in reverse. Then I walked home.
• Went to the Blue Coyote that night. A list of guests includes: Greg, Vernon, Opu, Lynn, Chrissy, Bill, Ervan, Heather, and a friend of hers. A good time was had by all. Okay, maybe just me, but I had a lot to drink.

June 5th -

• Watched the Bulls-Jazz game. Michael broke off a little sumthin sumthin and the Bulls won.

June 4th -

• Did a few miles on the bike.
• Bowled a few games (did okay - 145,169,169).
• Did some research into Carthage.

June 3rd -

• My birthday! So, I worked.
• Watched the Bulls-Jazz game. That bit.

June 2nd, 1998-

• Went to Mountain Jacks for dinner.
• Picked Greg up from the airport.
• My car hit 132,000 miles. I am just happy it is still running.

June 1st, 1998 -

• Went to dinner at Cheddar's with my parents. Try the cookie monster - good stuff.
• Looked at pictures of their trip to Disneyworld. A lot of pictures.

May 27th, 1998-

• Played softball, and did terrible. I only got on base once (but I did score - you don't hear me say that often).
• Watched ST:Voyager - very cool episode

• Went to the Point After with Joann, Opu, and Karen. Got to see a duet by Opu "Don't Quit Your Day Job" Amachree and Joann, who has a wonderful singing voice and will be in the upcoming Pete Beyer production (yet unnamed)..

• Did some faxing. You better believe it.
• Played a little basketball. I'm just a wee bit out of shape.

• Watched the game at Damon's. Try the buffalo style chicken wings. Very tasty.

• Discussed design ideas with a PROFESSIONAL interior decorater. My idea was to put purple and yellow fabric on the walls, and then have fans blowing on them, blinking lights, and 'Girls on Film' playing on repeat. Pretty good, huh?
• After work, went to Damon's and did some studying and football watchin'.

• Being the generous soul that I am, I stayed late to help take calls for freeloaders (like Pete Beyer) to call in sick. It cut into my Quake time.

• Went to Coscarelli's. Art was back in town for the weekend, and everyone who did not go should be ashamed of themselves.
• Showed off all my muscles. Did you know I can bench press 650 pounds?

• Went to Buddies. Cute waitress (Carrie, I think).

• Petey and I ate at McDonald's. You should try one of them there bacon western burgers. Good stuff.

• Started taking calls again. The entire helpdesk is in fear of their safety. In case you are wondering, I took 20 calls.

• Watched tennis and football. Football season opens today, and for the next several months, I will be sitting in front of the television EVERY Sunday.

• Watched a lot of tennis. I mean it. A lot. Over seven hours worth.

• Worked long, hard hours. I am exhausted, but not enough to stop me from going out. Had fun - you should have showed up. I even got on the dance floor.

• After I got home from work, I slept for two hours.

• Ate lunch at Subway. We had rotating number of guest - Vernon, Ann, and Lynn came by.

• My graphic of Suzanne and Rashanda (aka Cher and Dione) got some rave reviews. It was my best work so far. It will be hard to duplicate. I hope this is not one of those high points, and my 'skill' only goes downhill. Hmmm... come to think about it, I never really have had a high point, so that is some improvement.

August 25th, 1997 -

• Worked. Damn, gotta get that paycheck...
• Edited images all day. It is exhausting work, but someone has to do it.
• Drove around in Greg's car and went to Jersey Giant. It is amazing how many looks you get when you are in a convertible.

• Went to a party at Lynn's house, who was very kind to let me sleep on the couch - I was not exactly, um, myself.

• Had a party. After that, a group of us went to a bar, then to Panchero's for a burrito. Opu, the gentleman, almost got in a fight with a drunk guy for calling a group of girls bitches.

• Worked again. Not real exciting, huh?
• Played a little basketball. My behind the back move is coming along nicely.

• Worked. There is a surprise.
• Ate at Nic's. I was hoping that the Nic's chick was going to be there, so my friend could ask her to the party we are having on Saturday (I am a shy guy, you know), but she was not there. Oh well.
• Played Vampire. There was a little excitement at the end of the game, because my friend Pete got beeped - he may be a daddy soon (heck, may be one already for all I know). Good luck Pete!

• Worked. But, the power went out, so that was kind of fun.
• Made a new Vampire character. He is really cool and, like most of my characters, has no offensive capabilities. Just like me in real life, except my character is much better looking.
