Whitewell

Formally known as The White Well, this ornate water source sits in the northeastern section of Balic, deep within the territory controlled by House Wavir. It is primarily used by the noble and merchant residents of the wealthy neighborhood in which it sits, though technically any citizen can draw water from it.

The well is surrounded by a circular formation of pillars ninety feet in diameter. The pillars are topped by curved capstones carved with a simple crenellation design. Between every other set of pillars is a stone bench where the public can relax. The grounds between the well and the pillars is beautiful pattern of marble of subtle alternating colors, one white, the other eggshell white. The tiles are narrowest near the well and widest at the pillars.

The Whitewell itself is self describing the brilliant white marble structure is three feet high and six feet in diameter. A half dozen short white pillars stand atop the well, capped by a single block of circular marble. Atop this sits the axel and chain which draw the bucket from the well to the surface.

The Whitewell is watched twenty four hours a day by Wavir guards. Anyone observed attempting to poison the well is immediately imprisoned and such people are usually executed for their evil effort. The allowance of water varies depending on the time of day. If there are long lines, then only one buckets worth of water is permitted to be removed, but if there is no line, then two buckets worth can be taken.
