Cavbaum's Bridge

At the eastern edge of the Bards Quarter sits a narrow silt crevase that marks the border between Tomblador held Balic and Wavir held Balic. Spanning this crevase is Cavbaum's Bridge, a flat bridge constructed of square pale yellow stone blocks and supported by arches underneath the bridge. It has a simply carved stone railing four feet in height. The stones of the bridge are slightly worn by the travels of thousands of wagons that have crossed if over the centuries.

Cavbaum, for whom the bridge is named, was an accomplished thief whose larcenous exploits were often repeated in the pubs of the Quarter. He seemed to possess a nearly supernatural ability to escape the traps set for him by the merchant houses and templars, to the ever increasing anger of Andropinis. The sorceror-king scried the thief who was then tracked down by several templar bands, trapped at this bridge, then leaped over the side and disappeared into the silt as his was riddled with spells and arrows. The templars claimed to have fished his body from the bottom, but rumors spread that Cavbaum escaped the city. Locals began calling the bridge after the legend, though not while templars were within earshot. Now, after the fall of the sorceror-king, the bridge is called Cavbaum's Bridge in the open.

The bridge is a often used for a meeting place between bards and clients who do not want to wander into the Bard's Quarter. The sides of the crevase are steep, but navigatable, and the more nimble meet beneath the bridge, or leave encrypted messages in chalk on the stone supports.
