Backlash Spike and Boneharden RingBacklash Spike. This is an ordinary wooden stake that, when embedded into the ground, caused a Backlash spell to activate. The spell is at a 9th level Druid and does 5d6+5 points of damage to defilers attempting to cast spells while within the area of effect. As long as the spike is in the ground, the spell is active and is essentially permanent. As long as no defiler attempts to drain life from the land a Backlash Spike defends, the spike continues to hold the spell, and it can be removed and used again. Once the spell is expended, the spike loses its magic and becomes an ordinary wooden spike. Only one spike can be active at a time. Should multiple spikes guard overlapping area, only one will affect the offending defiler.
Boneharden Ring. This plain ring made of bleached-white bone is a boon to warriors. When a bone weapon is grasped in the hand that wears the ring, the wearer can cast a Boneharden spell 3/day, eliminating the penalties for using the bone weapons. Though the user must have the weapon in their hand upon casting, they need not continue to hold the weapon, and it can be used in an off-hand or given to another combatant. For purposes of duration, the spell has an effective caster level of 10, giving the wielder ten rounds with the enhanced weapon. |
