The Balican Crier, Issue 4
About the Crier The sun, high overhead, was hidden by a haze of silt over Balic. The crowd at the Common was thinner than usual because of the blowing dust, but still a few sat out and enjoyed drinks, their hands covering the top of their glass. Through the haze walked a woman dressed in the blue and white livery of House Wavir. "Friends, rivals, Balican's," she began, "I am Kavira, a representative of House Wavir, here to inform you of the latest news in and around Balic. Thank you for being here on such a day as this." "The first issue is the official division of the arena between the three houses. Though this means nothing to the average citizen, to the other Houses of Balic, it shows that we in House Wavir are willing to compromise with them to make a better Balic. The three Houses can now share in the maintenance of the arena, and the planning of events in said structure. As before, taxes gained from events in the arena will be shared three ways." "Innos of Raxides is searching for a small group of upstanding men and women to perform a small service for his family. The esteemed Innos would not give details, due to the sensitive nature of the task involved, but those who are worthy and capable will be well rewarded for their troubles." "Baradmor is looking for hearty guards to help defend his caravan as it makes it's way to Raam. For those of you not familiar with Baradmor, he is an independent merchant, not connected to any House, who sends caravans of goods across the region." Kavira pauses a moment, and then says in a conspirational tone, "He is a good enough fellow, one you can trust, if you were wondering about the possibility of employment with him." She renewed her deliver with a soft 'ahem.' "If you wish to contact Baradmor, he will be at The Closed Gate inn, just inside the west gate of the city. Only serious, experienced men and women need apply - he IS going to Raam, a difficult journey, to be sure." "Thank you, friends," Kavira concluded with a bow, leaving the Balicans to their silty drinks. |
