Another day was half over for the hard working Balicans sitting in The Common enjoying their lunch among the trees of the plaza. The familiar figure of Kavira of House Wavir approached them. After saying hello to a few familiar faces, she spoke to the rest of the crowd.

I bid you good afternoon, she began. I will first announce the opportunity for employment. House Rees has recently announced they are in need of strong arms to protect a foray to the south. Though they would not specify the reasons for the expedition, House Rees expects to encounter dangers in the wilds outside the city, and are paying handsomely for those willing to face them. Inquires can be answered by Rees personnel at the House headquarters.

The Lucky Bit is holding a Greedy Merchant tournament. Those skilled at the game can test themselves against the best players in the city. An entry fee of five ceramics will be charged to each participant, and the winner will receive a grand prize of five hundred ceramics.

A fight outside the orangery caused a small bit of damage to that building. The cause of the fracas in not known, as the half dozens brawlers responsible for the damage fled the scene at the arrival of the guards.

That it all everyone, though I would also like to mention a Tyr storm is likely this evening, so secure your homes from the winds that are coming. Good day.

Behind the Scenes

Because of recent research into ancient Balican history, House Rees strongly suspects a silver mine forty miles to the south of Balic. Their first attempt to locate the mine ended in the death of nearly every member of the expedition at the hands of a mysterious tribe of humanoids. The House is making another attempt, this time prepared for battle.
