Behind the Scenes

The wall surrounding House Tomblador is complete, Heglis bellowed with exuberance, the dwarf practically puffing out his chest with pride. Though delays and unfortunate accidents had lost us time, we have prevailed in surrounding the core House buildings with a wall which will give us added security in these days of thievery. Now House Wavir is not the only one that can protect itself from the bandits while the rest are open the coming and goings of anyone at any time.

Another triumph to announce for House Tomblador. We have won a valuable contract with Nibenay, one that will increase the fortunes of our House many times over. We need brave guards for both overland caravans and silt skimmer crews to defend our cargo as it makes it ways to that city. Volunteers can apply at House Tomblador.

As a public service announcement to those who are perhaps less able to take care of themselves, House Tomblador is announcing that there have been a rash of recent thefts in the Bards Quarter. Picked pockets are the most numerous complaints, but the thefts of goods from inside homes has also been reported.

And those with a brave heart will soon get their chance to prove it. House Tomblador and the other two Houses are hosting a series of games in the arena, from hand to hand combat to archery to races. Competitors may register the day of the event, the first of which will be held shortly after dawn.

As abrupltly as he started, Heglis departed the Common.

Behind the Scenes

The wall surrounding House Tomblador is twelve feet high and three feet thick. The other Houses are bit perplexed House Wavir has a wall around its current home, the White Palace, because the wall existed since the time of Andropinis, and House Rees feels the wall surrounding Balic is enough to defend them. Though they have publicly questioned the need for the wall and the inconvenience of evicting people in the path of the wall, it is within the grounds of House Tomblador, and thus not the concern of the other Houses.

The truth of the matter is that Kaladon, the head of House Tomblador, has become increasingly paranoid as of late. He is sure there is some group that means to do him in, though there have been no assassination attempts or threats. The other members of Tomblador are in no position to question the House partriach, as they would surely be punished for their insolence. So, the wall has been built to help defend against a possibly phantom enemy.
