Bush is NOT dumb

The title of this page is in itself a silly one. Why am I even bothering putting this page up? Because I often hear an ignorant opinion by many otherwise intelligent people that are insistant that the President of the United States, the Commander in Chief of the greatest military force in history, and the most powerful man in the world, is an idiot.

How did we get to this point? I think it is quite clear that the media put us in this position. Oh, I can hear some of you already begin to shout out 'Oh, here is another conservative railing against the liberal media.' And you are right, I am railing against the liberal media and the way they mislead the American people, and I do so not because of my political leanings, but because it's the truth.

Let's think about this for a moment. First, and I need to point this out for those of you who have embraced the 'Bush is dumb' proganda, President Bush has graduated from Yale and Harvard Business School. I should admit that I have never attended either of these schools, but I have heard that they are rather difficult schools to graduate from. Apparently, having these degrees does not protect one from attacks from those whose own academic accomplishments are perhaps less impressive than our President's.

Could this accusation of President Bush's lack of intelligence be aimed at his habit of stumbling over large words, a habit he himself acknowledges and mentions often, which is his self deprecating sense of humor. Apparently, a lack of correct pronunciation of the word galvonomagnetic makes one unable to perform the duties of Commander in Chief. Silly me, I actually believe there were other factors like intelligence, confidence, and decisiveness to do so.

If you have not read Slander, a book by Ann Coulter, I will put forth one of the points that she brings up. Liberals rely on name calling rather than intellectual discussion. Instead of actually bringing up facts to support their assertion that 'Bush is dumb,' they state their misguided opions as if they were fact. President Bush has not displayed any mental stumbles as Gore displayed on a trip to Monticello and did not recognize a bust of President Washington. One would think a Vice President would recognize such a figure, but then, one would also think that a man who has spent most of his adult life in politics would realize that it is quite illegal to raise funds inside a Budhist temple.

Essentially, the point I brought up in the previous paragraph is the whole basis for the liberals for their attacks on President Bush. Who would have thought that a mean spirited little game we learn on the playground would be the basis for a wide spread smear campaign for a group of left of center journalists and politicians?

It would be more amusing that these groups have resorted to such tactics rather than using facts in their attempts to malign the President if the media did not so slavishly repeat and report their lies as truth. It would also be more satisifying if there was not such a wide spread acceptance of this hideously distorted message among rational adults. Such is the power of repeated propaganda by a group of men and women unacountable for their words - the major media outlets. It is unfortunate that the opinions of these people of questionable qualifications have the power that they do, but it is even more unfortunate that the American people accept it without independent thought by they who receive the message.
