I did not spend my entire trip on the beach, oh no. Sometimes I was at the resteraunt, and I had to sleep sometime. And also, I jumped on a day tour to Chichen Itza, the Mayan ruins featuring the famous pyramid before you.

The road to Chichen Itza was a bumpy one, as the roads were not well maintained. Kind of like living in Michigan. We first stopped at a gift shop so we could be accosted by Mexican merchants, then headed to lunch where we were forced to watch children dance with glasses on our heads. I felt bad for them.

Finally, we reached the ruins. As you can see, the pyramid can be climbed. Well, not anymore - it is closed for a few years for further exploration. But I did climb to the top. It was not an easy trip, and it was even harder down, as the steps were narrow and instead of looking up, on the way down, you could see exactly how far you would fall if you tripped.
